Historic Victory for West Indies in the World Cup!
In a remarkable display, the West Indies achieved their largest margin of victory by runs in T20 history. Playing in Guyana, they bowled out Uganda for just 39 runs, securing a massive 134-run win. Akeal Hosein, who won the Player of the Match award with his five-wicket haul, etched his name into the record books.
Winning the toss and opting to bat first, West Indies posted a total of 173 runs for the loss of five wickets. Uganda, playing against the Windies for the first time in T20, struggled immensely and were bowled out for a mere 39 runs in just over 12 overs. This resulted in a colossal 134-run defeat, the second-largest margin by runs in T20 World Cup history.
Uganda was left helpless against Akeal Hosein's spin. Hosein became the first West Indian bowler to take five wickets in a Men's T20 World Cup match. He conceded only 11 runs while taking five wickets, marking his first five-wicket haul in international T20 cricket.
Chasing a daunting target, Uganda lost five wickets within the first six overs of the powerplay. The wickets kept tumbling, and none of the ten dismissed batsmen reached double figures. The highest score was an unbeaten 13 by Juma Miyagi. Three batsmen were dismissed for ducks, and the entire innings featured only three boundaries.
This historic victory not only highlights the strength of the West Indies team but also marks a significant moment for Akeal Hosein, whose exceptional performance will be remembered for years to come.
