The Maharashtra government has announced a reward of INR 110 million for the Indian cricket team for becoming the T20 World Cup champions. This announcement was made by Eknath Shinde, the Chief Minister of Maharashtra.
On Friday, a ceremony was held at Maharashtra's Central Hall to honor four cricketers from the Indian team: Rohit Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav, Yashasvi Jaiswal, and Shivam Dube. The support staff of the Indian team, including Paras Mhambrey and Arun Kanade, were also honored.
The Mumbai police managed the crowd effectively during the bus parade celebrating the championship, for which they were praised by the Chief Minister of Maharashtra. He specifically mentioned India's victory over Pakistan and also praised Suryakumar Yadav's outstanding catch at a crucial moment in the final against South Africa.
In addition to Maharashtra’s gift of INR 110 million, the BCCI had already announced a substantial reward. After defeating South Africa in the final to win the World Cup, India received USD 2.45 million from the ICC, which amounts to approximately INR 204.2 million. The BCCI also announced a reward of INR 1.25 billion for the players, coaches, and support staff of the World Cup-winning team.
