Walton are gearing up for the Bangladesh Cricket Board’s (BCB) inaugural domestic three-format competition, the D-Three Trophy, with a strong, star-studded squad. After confirming Mehidy Hasan Miraz as their icon player, the franchise added a host of national team stars and promising youngsters during the players’ draft. Walton’s primary objective in the three-format tournament is to lift the title.

During an eight-hour-long draft and auction at a five-star hotel in the capital, hosted by Charu Sharma, Walton secured several established stars. Their biggest coup was acquiring national team pace sensation Taskin Ahmed for 2 crore 10 lakh points. The franchise also added wicketkeeper-batter Litton Kumar Das for 1 crore 55 lakh points and Test specialist Mominul Haque for 80 lakh points. Besides spinner Nasum Ahmed (69 lakh), emerging pacer Iqbal Hasan Emon (66 lakh), all-rounder Samiun Basir Ratul (54 lakh) and young batter Ariful Islam (62 lakh), the squad also features experienced campaigners such as Rony Talukdar and Marshall Ayub.

Former national team spinner Abdur Razzak has been appointed as the team’s head coach. Expressing satisfaction with the balanced squad assembled after the auction, he said that although players with captaincy experience, including Miraz and Litton, are part of the team, the captain will be finalised later after assessing the circumstances. His primary objective is to deliver strong results on the field.

Actor Amin Khan, who represented Walton at the auction event, said the team, assembled with top-quality coaches and players, has everything required to win the title.

Speaking as the team’s representative, Amin Khan said, “Everyone expects their team to win. I also expect Walton to win, of course. Considering how the team has been assembled today, the players we have picked, and the fact that we have the best coach with us, we hope to put on a good performance and, of course, win.”

In the D-Three Trophy, which combines one-day, T20 and four-day cricket, Walton aim to bring out their best by combining experienced stars with emerging talents.
