Having already been eliminated from the World Cup group stage, a "devastated" New Zealand found solace with a resounding 9-wicket victory over Uganda. Uganda, helpless against the fiery pace of Southee and Boult, couldn't muster more than 40 runs. The Kiwis chased down the target in just 5.2 overs.
At Trinidad's Brian Lara Stadium, New Zealand faced Uganda, already knocked out of the group stage. The despondent team made the most of their encounter with Uganda, bowling them out for a mere 40 runs. New Zealand finally tasted victory, requiring only 32 balls to chase down the target. Tim Southee and Trent Boult spearheaded the demolition.
After losses to Afghanistan and the West Indies in their first two World Cup matches, New Zealand finally achieved a win, albeit after already being eliminated from the group stage.
Tim Southee (3/4) and Trent Boult (2/7) ensured New Zealand's 9-wicket win over Uganda in Trinidad. Their explosive new ball spell pushed Uganda to the second-lowest score in T20 World Cup history. Although they lost Finn Allen early, New Zealand chased down the target during the powerplay to secure the victory.
Already eliminated, New Zealand will conclude their World Cup campaign with a match against Namibia, marking the end of their group stage fixtures.
