Excitement is building ahead of the 12th edition of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL). Cricket fans have been eagerly waiting for the country’s most vibrant tournament, and this year, there is good news for viewers despite previous seasons facing criticism over commentary and broadcast quality.
For the first time, former Pakistani pace bowler Waqas Younis and former England cricketer Michael Gough will be joining the BPL as commentators. They will be joined by Pakistani legend batsman Ramiz Raja, a familiar face to cricket fans.
Although Waqas Younis is not joining as a player, he has prior experience in the tournament, having served as the coach of the Sylhet team in the past. Excited to return in a new role, Waqas said in a video message shared on BCB’s official Facebook page:
“Hello everyone. This is Waqas Younis speaking. I am joining this edition of the BPL. Come to the ground. Enjoy the BPL with me. Analysis, a lot more… The BPL is one of the best franchise leagues.”
Ramiz Raja, a former international cricketer himself, greeted fans in Bangla and then spoke in English:
“Enjoy this edition of the BPL with me. The best players from Bangladesh and around the world will compete. I can’t wait to be part of the BPL.”
The responsibility for broadcasting the tournament has been taken up by Trans Production Technologies (TPT). The company has finalized the entire commentary panel. With regular experience covering the Pakistan Super League (PSL), IL T20 leagues, and other franchise tournaments, TPT is bringing several prominent faces to the BPL commentary box this season.
The 12th edition of the BPL will begin on 26 December in Sylhet, promising more thrilling battles between domestic and international players.
