Litton Das to Miss Afghanistan Series Due to Injury
After missing Bangladesh’s Asia Cup matches against India and Pakistan, Litton Das will also be absent for the upcoming T20I series against Afghanistan. The national team captain is expected to need at least another one and a half to two weeks to fully recover from a side strain.
Litton sustained the injury during practice on September 22, ahead of the match against India. Initially, it was thought the injury was not serious, but without medical clearance, he missed both the India and Pakistan matches.
If Litton is unable to recover in time, Zakir Ali Anik is expected to lead Bangladesh in the Afghanistan T20Is. He previously captained the team as stand-in during the India and Pakistan matches.
Litton’s injury could also lead to changes in the squad. Soumya Sarkar, who recently scored a half-century for Khulna in the NCL T20, is being considered as a potential replacement.
The BCB will announce the T20I and ODI squads for the Afghanistan series on September 27. The three T20Is are scheduled in Sharjah on October 2, 3, and 5, followed by three ODIs in Abu Dhabi on October 8, 11, and 14.
