BCB Bans Manzurul Islam from All Cricket Activities Following Jahanaras Allegations
Bangladesh cricket has witnessed a major decision by the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB). Former national team player, ex-women’s team selector, and manager Manzurul Islam has been barred from all cricket-related activities after allegations of sexual harassment surfaced against him.
The decision was taken during BCB’s virtual board meeting on Sunday. The country’s highest cricket authority stated that Manzurul will not be involved in any capacity with Bangladesh cricket in the future.
The controversy began when Australia-based women’s cricketer Jahanara Alam raised allegations of sexual harassment against Manzurul in a YouTube interview. Following the public revelation of the complaint, BCB formed an investigation committee to look into the matter.
After reviewing the recommendations submitted by the investigation committee, the board finalized its decision. Based on these recommendations, the board approved barring Manzurul from all future cricket activities in Bangladesh.
It is worth noting that Manzurul, who is currently employed with the Asian Cricket Council (ACC), had not held any BCB responsibilities since June 30 last year. However, following the recent allegations, his official association with Bangladesh cricket has effectively ended.
