The "Prime Bank National School Cricket 2024-25" season has officially started under the sponsorship of Prime Bank PLC and the supervision of the Bangladesh Cricket Board's (BCB) Game Development Committee. This year, over 7,000 players from 351 schools across 64 districts will compete in a total of 585 matches. The district-level matches commenced on January 20, with the subsequent rounds of divisional and national-level games to follow.
Prime Bank has been a dedicated partner of BCB since 2015, working together to advance Bangladesh cricket and provide talented cricketers from all corners of the country an opportunity to shine. To mark the occasion of this year's tournament, a press conference was held at the BCB Media Center, where the official jersey was unveiled.
The press conference was attended by Prime Bank PLC's Deputy Managing Director (DMD) Mohammad Nazim A. Chowdhury and Senior Assistant Vice President & Head of Brand and Communications, Syed Raihan Tariq. On behalf of BCB, Fahim Sinha, Director of BCB and Chairman of the Game Development Committee, was present.
Mohammad Nazim A. Chowdhury, DMD of Prime Bank PLC, expressed his enthusiasm about the tournament, stating, "School cricket holds a very special place for us. Prime Bank has been associated with this tournament for ten years, and we have witnessed its significant impact. Many players who started their journey in school cricket have reached the highest levels of the game. We are proud and excited to continue contributing to the growth of cricket at the grassroots level, and we commend BCB for successfully managing this tournament."
Fahim Sinha added, "This year, we aim to enhance talent scouting in the Prime Bank National School Cricket. We will ensure that district coaches and their representatives are present at every venue to identify promising cricketers. Additionally, we are organizing orientation courses for cricket coaches and physical education teachers at schools. We seek the support of everyone involved in making this the most successful cricket tournament in the country."
Since its inception in 2015, the Prime Bank National School Cricket has involved 3,157 schools, with 67,535 players participating in 5,544 matches held across the country—making it the largest cricket tournament at any level in Bangladesh. At the conclusion of each year's tournament, Prime Bank awards scholarships to the top 15 players selected by BCB’s age-group selectors, further fostering the growth of young cricket talent in Bangladesh.
