Rajshahi’s Captaincy Change Backfires as They Suffer Heavy Defeat Against Chittagong Kings

Ahead of their match against Chittagong Kings, Durbar Rajshahi made a captaincy change, with Taskin Ahmed replacing Anamul Haque Bijoy as the leader. However, this change had a negative impact, as Rajshahi were bowled out for just 80 runs, suffering a massive 111-run defeat.

Rajshahi faced another setback midway through the BPL season with the captaincy change. Chittagong Kings set a target of 192 runs, and Rajshahi crumbled to just 80 runs in response. Under Taskin Ahmed’s leadership, Rajshahi suffered their third defeat of the season by more than 100 runs. This is the third time in the current BPL edition that Rajshahi has lost by a margin of over 100 runs.

In the previous match, Anamul Bijoy, who had been captain, played an excellent innings of 100* off 57 balls, hitting 5 sixes and 9 boundaries. While Rajshahi couldn't win that game, under Bijoy's leadership, the team had won 3 out of their first 7 matches.

However, today, Rajshahi were completely outclassed by Chittagong Kings at Sagorika Ground. Rajshahi were bowled out for just 80 runs in 14.2 overs, with only two batters reaching double figures. The highest score of 21 runs came from Bijoy, who had been dismissed early.

Earlier, despite a solid performance with the ball by Taskin Ahmed, the rest of the team struggled. Chittagong Kings managed to score 191 runs in their allotted 20 overs. Taskin took two wickets for just 23 runs in 4 overs. Naim Islam provided the backbone of the Kings’ innings, scoring a half-century as they set a challenging total.

The change in leadership failed to spark Rajshahi’s performance, and they suffered a heavy defeat, which will leave them with much to reconsider as the tournament progresses.
