Rishabh Pant To Lead Lucknow Super Giants In IPL 2025

In the 2025 IPL mega auction, Lucknow Super Giants acquired Rishabh Pant for a record-breaking amount. The franchise has now announced Pant as their captain, a decision made due to his leadership skills, for which Lucknow invested a significant amount.

Pant became the most expensive player in IPL auction history, joining Lucknow for 27 crore rupees on the first day of the mega auction held in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

After joining the new franchise, Pant, the star wicketkeeper-batter, was immediately handed the captaincy. Pant was the captain of Delhi Capitals for the past three years before his injury in 2023. He is regarded as one of the best captains in the franchise's history, second only to Virender Sehwag.

Pant led Delhi in 43 matches, and it was already confirmed that he would be named the captain of Lucknow. Although Nicholas Pooran was also a contender for the role, Pant secured the captaincy over him.

In addition to Pant and Pooran, Lucknow's batting lineup is world-class, featuring players like Mitchell Marsh, Aiden Markram, and David Miller. The 18th edition of IPL will begin on March 21, with the final scheduled for May 25.
