BPL 2025: RANGPUR RIDERS SECURE BIG NAMES FOR PLAYOFFS, TEAM DAVID, WARNER & NARINE TO JOIN

The Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) has returned to Dhaka after its rounds in Sylhet and Chittagong, with the stands filled with spectators. However, the playing field was missing some star foreign players. But now, good news has arrived for BPL fans: Australian powerhouse Tim David is set to join Rangpur Riders for the remaining matches of the season. Furthermore, the franchise has also confirmed contracts with two more stars—David Warner and Sunil Narine.

David Warner, who last played in the BPL in the 2018-19 season with Sylhet Sixers, will be seen again in this season’s playoffs, donning the Rangpur Riders' jersey. Warner’s current team, Sydney Thunder, will be playing in the Big Bash League final today. After the final, Warner is expected to head to Bangladesh to join Rangpur, depending on his team’s performance.

Additionally, West Indies all-rounder Sunil Narine, who represented Abu Dhabi Knight Riders in the ILT20, is also expected to arrive in Bangladesh. Narine’s team will play their last group match on February 2, and if they fail to qualify for the playoffs, Narine will make his way to the BPL. However, if Abu Dhabi Knight Riders secure a spot in the ILT20 playoffs, Narine’s participation in the BPL will be in jeopardy.

According to a report from Prothom Alo, Rangpur franchise sources confirmed that Tim David’s arrival is final, and contracts with Warner and Narine have been completed. The timing of their arrival will be based on the team’s position in the points table.

Rangpur Riders have already secured a spot in the playoffs with 8 consecutive wins, but their momentum took a hit in the last two matches. Durbar Rajshahi handed Rangpur back-to-back defeats, yet the Riders remain at the top of the points table. With these star players now joining, Rangpur is looking to make a strong push in the playoff rounds.
