Rangpur Riders Set to Bring Big Foreign Stars for Playoff and Final
While this year's BPL has seen packed galleries, the absence of star foreign players on the field has been a notable issue. However, there’s good news for Rangpur Riders fans. The franchise has confirmed that several big names will be joining the team for the playoff and final stages. Players like David Warner, Sunil Narine, and Andre Russell have signed contracts with the Riders.
Rangpur Riders, who secured the first playoff spot by winning eight consecutive matches, saw their winning streak come to an end with three losses in a row. Now, the franchise is planning to bring five foreign players to Bangladesh for the playoffs and finals. This information was confirmed by the franchise's Manager of Operations and Logistics, Ahsanur Rahman Mallik.
He mentioned that the five foreign players would be selected according to the needs of each playoff match. Rangpur Riders aim to strengthen their squad with these star foreign players, but they are not revealing the names officially at this time.
The five players Rangpur Riders have already secured are: West Indies’ dynamic all-rounders Andre Russell and Sunil Narine, Australia's David Warner and Tim David, and Pakistan’s Asif Ali. Tim David’s arrival is nearly confirmed, and his destructive batting style is expected to add firepower to the squad.
David Warner previously played in the BPL during the 2018-19 season for Sylhet Sixers, but has not appeared in the tournament since. However, Warner might return to the BPL for the 2025 season with Rangpur Riders for the playoffs.
West Indies’ all-rounder Sunil Narine could also join the action. Narine’s team has their final group match on February 2, and if they don’t qualify for the playoffs, he will travel to Bangladesh. However, if his team, the Kolkata Knight Riders, secures a spot in the ILT20 playoffs, Narine’s chances of playing in the BPL will be over.
Rangpur Riders are making big moves to ensure they have a solid team for the upcoming crucial stages of the tournament, and the arrival of these stars will surely add excitement to their campaign.
