Dhaka Capitals Eliminated from BPL Before Playing the Match
Dhaka Capitals were officially eliminated from the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) after Chittagong Kings defeated Rangpur Riders in the afternoon match. Dhaka, who were scheduled to play against Fortune Barishal, now have no chance of advancing to the playoffs, regardless of the outcome of their game.
With this win, Fortune Barishal became the second team to secure a place in the playoffs, following Rangpur Riders. If Barishal beats Dhaka, the defending champions will finish in the top two without any further calculations.
In the first match of the day, Chittagong Kings' victory over Rangpur Riders almost guaranteed them a spot in the playoffs, while Dhaka Capitals' elimination was confirmed. Having played 10 matches, Dhaka won only 3, and even if they win their remaining two matches, their points will only reach 10.
Currently, Durbar Rajshahi sits in fourth place with 12 points, meaning that Dhaka's hopes of qualifying for the playoffs were dashed before the match. After Sylhet Strikers, Dhaka became the second team to be eliminated from BPL this season. Therefore, today's match and the remaining one will be purely formalities for Dhaka.
