West Indies Secures Historic Test Victory in Pakistan After 34 Years
In a remarkable feat, West Indies defeated Pakistan by 120 runs, securing their first Test win on Pakistan’s soil in 34 years. With this victory, they leveled the series 1-1 after dismissing Pakistan for just 133 runs in their second innings.
The second Test, held in Multan, saw West Indies opting to bat after winning the toss. The West Indies' batting line-up struggled heavily, being bowled out for just 163 runs. Four of their batsmen were dismissed for a duck in the first innings. The highest score for the West Indies was 55 runs by Gudakesh Motie, while Jomel Warrican contributed 36 runs.
For Pakistan, it was Noman Ali who made a significant impact, claiming 6 wickets for 41 runs. Sajid Khan took 2 wickets to support him.
Pakistan, trailing by just 9 runs in the first innings, were bowled out for 154. Mohammad Rizwan top-scored with 49, while Saud Shakeel made 32. Kamran Ghulam and Sajid Khan contributed 16 runs each. For the West Indies, Jomel Warrican picked up 4 wickets, and Gudakesh Motie took 3 wickets.
In their second innings, West Indies posted a formidable total of 244, led by captain Craig Brathwaite’s 52-run knock. Tevin Imlach added 35, and Amir Jangoo scored 30 runs.
Pakistan’s bowlers, Noman Ali and Sajid Khan, each claimed 4 wickets in the second innings, but it wasn’t enough to stop the West Indies.
To win, Pakistan needed 253 runs in their second innings. However, the pitch proved to be a nightmare for the batters, making this target almost impossible. Pakistan's batsmen couldn't cope with the challenge and were bowled out for just 133 runs.
Babar Azam was the top scorer for Pakistan with 31 runs in the second innings. Jomel Warrican was the star performer with a five-wicket haul, while Kevin Sinclair took 3 wickets. Warrican’s combined total of 9 wickets across both innings earned him the title of Player of the Match.
