As the 11th edition of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) approaches its final stages with seven teams still in the fray, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has announced an increase in the prize money for the tournament. The champion team will now receive BDT 2.5 crore, while the runner-up will be awarded BDT 1.5 crore. Additionally, two teams that will be eliminated during the playoffs will also receive a financial reward.
In the previous edition, Fortune Barishal, who won the title, received a prize of BDT 2 crore, while the runner-up, Comilla Victorians, got BDT 1 crore. This time, both prize amounts have increased by BDT 50 lakh.
As the tournament nears its climax, excitement is building over which teams will take home the title and the lucrative cash rewards. The BPL governing council's decision to increase the prize money has added a new layer of anticipation for the remaining matches.
Along with the increased prize money for the champion and runner-up, another exciting announcement has been made: all four teams that qualify for the playoffs will be rewarded financially. The team eliminated in the Eliminator match will receive BDT 40 lakh, while the team falling short in the second qualifier will be awarded BDT 60 lakh.
So far, two teams—Rangpur Riders and Fortune Barishal—have secured their places in the playoffs, and now the race is on for the remaining two spots as the tournament heads toward its grand finale.
