Bangladesh Women’s U-19 Team Defeated by India in ICC U-19 Women’s T20 World Cup
Bangladesh's U-19 women's cricket team faced a heavy 8-wicket defeat against India in the ICC U-19 Women’s T20 World Cup. Batting first, Bangladesh struggled to 64 runs after losing 8 wickets in their allotted 20 overs. In response, India chased down the target in just 7.1 overs, losing only 2 wickets.
From the outset, the Indian bowlers dominated, with Bangladesh losing wickets at regular intervals. The Tigers were reduced to just 9 runs for 3 wickets. A brief partnership between Sumaiya Akter Suborna and Afia Asima Ira added 13 runs for the fourth wicket. After their dismissal, another partnership of 31 runs came between Jannatul Mawa and captain Sumaiya Akter for the seventh wicket.
Mawa was dismissed for 14 runs, while Sumaiya Akter scored 21 runs off 29 balls. Bangladesh’s batters struggled to find rhythm, and at the end of 20 overs, they were only able to score 64 runs. Indian bowler Vishnavi Sharma took 3 wickets in her spell.
Chasing a low total, India had a solid start. Opener Trisha Gondek played a stellar knock of 40 runs off 31 balls, including 8 fours. Sanika Chalke also contributed with a quick 11 runs off 5 balls. India completed the chase in just 43 balls to secure a comfortable victory.
For Bangladesh, Anisha Akter Shoba and Habiba Islam Pinki each took 1 wicket.
