Will Shakib Al Hasan Lead Antigua & Barbuda Falcons in CPL 2024?

Speculation is growing that Shakib Al Hasan could be named captain of the Antigua & Barbuda Falcons for the upcoming Caribbean Premier League (CPL) season. The question arises as no player in the squad matches the Bangladeshi all-rounder’s experience in franchise cricket, making him a natural choice for leadership.

Returning to the CPL after two seasons, Shakib will represent the Falcons in the 2024 edition, starting August 14. The tournament opener will see his side face the St Kitts & Nevis Patriots.

With just one day left before the competition begins, the franchise has yet to announce their captain. Shakib is believed to be the frontrunner for the role, and his arrival might be the reason behind the delay in the announcement. If the responsibility does not fall on him, local star Rahkeem Cornwall could be handed the leadership.
