WCA raises concern, calls Bangladeshs World Cup exit a sorrowful moment

**Tom Moffat**, Chief Executive of WCA, said,
“Bangladesh’s absence, as a full member with a vast supporter base, is a ‘sorrowful moment’ on the pinnacle stage of T20 cricket.”

He added,
“The withdrawal of Bangladesh from the T20 World Cup results in the absence of an important cricketing nation from the top international T20 tournament. This is a painful moment for the game, for Bangladesh’s players, and for millions of supporters. The matter deserves careful review.”

Calling for unity rather than division, Moffat emphasized,
“Instead of creating division or exclusion, we want cricket’s leadership to work together with all stakeholders—the governing bodies, leagues, and players. Now, more than ever, the game must be united, not fragmented.”

The WCA further noted that the incident highlights structural issues within cricket. Moffat commented,
“The organization has long been concerned about contracts not being properly honoured and about decisions being made without adequate consultation with players and their representatives. This situation clearly exposes serious flaws in the global cricket governance model. If such issues are neglected, trust in the game, unity, and its future are all put at risk.”
