Good News After Controversy, Mustafizur Rahman Set to Play in PSL
Just days after the dramatic end of his IPL chapter, Bangladesh left-arm pacer Mustafizur Rahman has received a new opportunity, with the Pakistan Super League (PSL) opening its doors for him. Only three days after being dropped from the Indian Premier League, the “Cutter Master” has been cleared to feature in the PSL.
Despite the overlap with the IPL schedule, Mustafizur will be available to play in the PSL. The development was officially confirmed on Tuesday when the PSL’s official social media page shared a post featuring Mustafizur’s photo. The caption read: “Batters beware… Mustafizur Rahman is joining HBL PSL 11.”
Although the franchise he will represent has not yet been announced, it is now almost certain that the Bangladeshi star will be seen in action in the upcoming edition of the league. This year’s PSL is set to be bigger than ever, with the number of teams expanded to eight from the previous five or six.
The 30-year-old pacer has previously played in the PSL only once. Back in 2018, he represented Lahore Qalandars, picking up four wickets in five matches at an economy rate of 6.43. After an eight-year gap, Mustafizur is now preparing for a return to the tournament.
Earlier, Mustafizur was signed by Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL for a record INR 9.20 crore. However, following directives from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), he was controversially removed from the squad. The franchise officially announced his release last Saturday.
