Shakib Al Hasan Stars Again with the Ball in County Championship

Shakib Al Hasan has once again showcased his brilliance with the ball in the County Championship. The all-rounder has become a formidable force for Somerset’s batters, claiming four wickets in the second innings, adding to his earlier four-wicket haul in the first innings. With one wicket remaining for Somerset’s total dismissal, Shakib is on the brink of achieving a five-wicket haul.

In his debut match for Surrey, Shakib has now taken a total of eight wickets. In the second innings, he bowled 25 overs, conceding 83 runs while claiming four wickets. Somerset finished the third day of play with a lead of 190 runs. They ended their innings with an unbeaten 41-run partnership between Craig Overton (40 not out) and Tom Banton (28 not out).

Shakib made an immediate impact in the second innings by dismissing Somerset opener Archie Von on his very first over. He also trapped Tom Abel leg before wicket, continuing his success from the first innings where Abel was dismissed by Shakib as well.

Somerset captain Lewis Gregory struggled against Shakib, who dismissed him LBW after four probing deliveries. Shakib did not stop there; he also took the catch of James Rew in the slip off his next over. With these wickets, Shakib has achieved another four-wicket haul, with a potential five-for within reach, which he might accomplish in the morning session of the next day.

Despite his impressive performance with the ball, Shakib had a less successful outing with the bat. He managed only 12 runs from 24 balls. On the first day of the match in Taunton, Shakib’s spin led to Somerset’s all-out for 317 runs. Among Surrey’s bowlers, Shakib stood out with his performance, taking four wickets for 97 runs from 33.5 overs.
