Anamul Haque Bijoy Sends Legal Notice Over False Fixing Allegations
Recently, a television channel published a report accusing Anamul Haque Bijoy and several other cricketers of being involved in a fixing scandal. Before the allegations could be proven, Bijoy, citing defamation, sent a legal notice to the reporter who published the story. The legal notice was sent on behalf of Bijoy by his lawyer, Zubair Mohammad Aurangzeb.
On Sunday, the cricketer from Durbar Rajshahi clarified the matter in a video message on social media. In the video caption, Bijoy wrote: "Assalamu Alaikum, I hope everyone is doing well. I am speaking today for a specific reason. Since Thursday, false and fabricated news has been spreading about me in various media outlets, and it has now gone beyond all limits. These baseless and concocted stories have mentally shattered both myself and my family. The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has issued a statement confirming that these allegations are false. After the BCB's statement, there’s really nothing more I need to clarify, but out of respect, love, and honesty toward you all, I have decided to speak for myself."
Regarding the legal notice, Bijoy stated, "For the past 3-4 days, what I’ve been seeing is really unacceptable for any player. Those who have been mixing up the facts and spreading these news stories, and who are enjoying or having fun at my expense, I want to say that I’m sending legal notices to all of them. Those who have praised the false news will also receive the legal notice."
Bijoy continued, "One last thing I want to say is that some people promoted this story out of personal malice against a player, which was completely unnecessary. Those who have written and spread this news clearly don’t have the best interests of cricket at heart, and they don’t wish well for Bangladesh cricket. I want to thank those who trust and love us, as they have exposed the truth. I also want to thank the media outlets that have published the truth. I am sending the legal notice, and within the next day or two, they will receive it. I will also make it public."
