BPL Governing Council to Share Ticket Revenue with Franchises to Ensure Player Payments
BPL Governing Council to Share Ticket Revenue with Franchises to Ensure Player Payments
In a landmark move to ensure timely payment of dues to players, the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) Governing Council has decided to allocate a portion of ticket sales revenue to participating franchises starting from the 11th edition of the BPL T20 tournament. This is the first time such a step is being taken in the tournament’s history.
At a meeting held on Monday (May 26), the council reviewed the financial statements and payment records submitted by the participating franchises. It was announced that franchises demonstrating genuine efforts to clear outstanding dues to local and foreign players will receive a designated share of the ticket sales income.
According to the preliminary allocation plan:
The four teams that reached the playoffs will each receive Tk 5.5 million.
The remaining three teams will receive Tk 4.5 million each.
However, this distribution will only be finalized after verifying proof of payments made to the players. Teams will receive funds in proportion to the payments they have actually made.
Furthermore, the Governing Council has decided to take legal action against franchises that repeatedly failed to settle player payments despite multiple notices. This move reflects the BCB’s strong commitment to upholding professionalism and contractual accountability within the BPL.
The revenue distribution is planned to be completed before the upcoming Eid-ul-Azha festival.
