Bangladesh Clinch T20I Series in Colombo Thanks to Sheikh Mehedi’s Stunning Spell
Bangladesh signed off their Sri Lanka tour in style, sealing the deciding third T20I in Colombo with a superb bowling display led by Sheikh Mehedi Hasan. Drafted into the XI in place of Mehidy Hasan Miraz, Mehedi delivered match-winning figures of 4-1-11-4, dismantling Sri Lanka’s batting lineup.
In the series decider at the R. Premadasa Stadium, Bangladesh lost the toss but dominated with the ball. Sri Lanka, who had split the first two games 1–1 with Bangladesh, were never allowed to settle, managing just 120 for 8 in their 20 overs.
Sheikh Mehedi’s magical spell broke the hosts’ backbone early. He removed Kusal Perera, Dinesh Chandimal, Charith Asalanka, and Pathum Nissanka, leaving Sri Lanka’s batters struggling throughout the innings.
His final figures—4 overs, 11 runs, 4 wickets—perfectly captured Sri Lanka’s struggles on the night and helped Bangladesh secure a memorable away series win.
