Nahid-Shorifuls bowling brilliance powers Peshawar to a big win over Lahore
Peshawar Zalmi secured a dominant victory in the Pakistan Super League on Saturday, outplaying Lahore Qalandars by 76 runs in a match where Bangladeshi pacers Nahid Rana and Shoriful Islam made a strong impact with the ball.
After losing the toss and being asked to bat first, Peshawar Zalmi faced early pressure but managed to build a competitive total through a solid partnership between captain Babar Azam and Kusal Mendis. Babar Azam played a responsible innings of 43 runs off 40 balls, including 3 fours and 1 six.
Bangladeshi left-arm pacer Mustafizur Rahman bowled in a disciplined manner, finishing with 2 wickets for 30 runs in his 4-over spell.
In response, Lahore Qalandars suffered a dramatic collapse from the very beginning. Shoriful Islam provided an early breakthrough, dismissing Mohammad Naeem for just 1 run in the opening over.
Nahid Rana then turned the game in Peshawar’s favor with a crucial spell. He struck in the sixth over of the powerplay, removing Abdullah Shafique, who scored 21 runs.
Nahid Rana was highly economical, taking 2 wickets for just 15 runs in his 3 overs, further putting Lahore’s batting under immense pressure.
Lahore Qalandars were left reeling at 8 wickets down for just 70 runs, effectively sealing their fate early in the chase.
