Dominant Tigers Cruise to Victory Over Pakistan in Series Opener
Fresh off a historic T20I series win in Sri Lanka, Bangladesh made a strong statement at home by outplaying Pakistan in the first match of the three-match T20I series. The Tigers secured a commanding 7-wicket win with 27 balls to spare at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur.
Chasing a modest target of 111, Bangladesh reached the finish line losing just three wickets. Opener Parvez Hossain Emon starred with the bat, playing a match-winning unbeaten knock of 56 runs off 39 deliveries. His innings, which included 3 fours and 5 towering sixes, earned him the Player of the Match award.
Earlier, Pakistan were invited to bat first after losing the toss and struggled throughout their innings, eventually getting bowled out for just 110 with three balls left in their innings. The Bangladeshi bowlers kept a tight grip on the game from the outset.
In reply, Bangladesh had a shaky start. Tanzid Hasan Tamim fell in the opening over, and skipper Litton Das departed in the third, leaving the hosts at 7 for 2. However, a crucial 73-run stand between Towhid Hridoy and Parvez Emon steadied the chase. Hridoy contributed 36 off 37 balls before getting dismissed, but the momentum had already shifted firmly in Bangladesh’s favor.
Wicketkeeper-batter Zakir Ali ensured a smooth finish, scoring 15 off just 10 balls and remaining unbeaten alongside Emon as Bangladesh wrapped up the chase in style.
With this win, the Tigers have taken a 1–0 lead in the series and struck an early blow in their bid to avenge the 3–0 defeat suffered at the hands of Pakistan in Lahore earlier this year.
