Political instability between India and Pakistan has reached a peak, with reports of retaliatory attacks surfacing from both sides. Amid the volatile situation, two Bangladeshi cricketers — Rishad Hossain and Nahid Rana — who were participating in the ongoing Pakistan Super League (PSL), are set to leave for Dubai tonight.

The ongoing conflict has disrupted franchise cricket in both nations. While the remainder of the PSL has been relocated to the United Arab Emirates (UAE), the Indian Premier League (IPL) has been suspended. However, Bangladeshi cricket fans can breathe a sigh of relief, as the two players will soon be out of the conflict zone.

Rishad and Nahid had been playing in the PSL for the first time — Rishad for Lahore Qalandars and Nahid Rana for Peshawar Zalmi. Given the escalating security concerns, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) maintained constant communication with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and the Bangladesh High Commission in Islamabad to ensure the players’ swift and safe relocation.

The PSL, which was underway in Pakistan, will now conclude its final eight matches — including four league games and the playoff rounds — in the UAE. The updated schedule is expected to be announced shortly.

The PCB’s decision to shift the tournament was made with player safety as the top priority, as the specter of war casts a shadow over regional sports.
