Pakistani Cricketer Cleared of Rape Charges
Pakistani cricketer Haider Ali has been fully cleared of rape allegations. Greater Manchester Police confirmed that there was insufficient evidence to support the charges, leading the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) to dismiss the case.
The 24-year-old batter was arrested last August in Kent after a British-Pakistani woman accused him of sexual assault. Following his arrest, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) provisionally suspended him.
Throughout the investigation, Haider consistently denied the allegations and fully cooperated with the police. Though released on bail, he was not allowed to leave the UK until the case was resolved. With the charges now dismissed, his passport has been returned, and he has been granted permission to travel abroad. Barrister Moeen Khan represented him in the legal proceedings, while the PCB also provided support under its player welfare policy. The board, however, has yet to issue an official statement.
Several Pakistani media outlets, citing British police, have confirmed that Haider Ali has now completed all legal formalities and is free to leave England.
Haider, who made his international debut in 2020, has so far played 2 ODIs and 35 T20Is for Pakistan.
