Rishad to Play for Hobart Hurricanes Again
Hobart Hurricanes have re-signed Rishad Hossain, the leg-spinner who made a strong impression in Australia with his impressive performances in the Big Bash League (BBL). The franchise has officially announced that the dynamic spinner, who emerged as the team’s leading wicket-taker in his debut season by consistently troubling opposition batters, will return for the upcoming campaign.
In a statement published on the club’s official website, the Hurricanes confirmed the return of the Bangladesh star. Playing in Hobart’s blue jersey last season, Rishad claimed 15 wickets in 12 matches. He maintained an economy rate of just 7.82 runs per over and an average of 20.86, with his best bowling figures being 3 for 26.
His outstanding performance in his debut season also earned the 22-year-old the club’s highest player honour. Hobart Hurricanes’ Head of High Performance, Salliann Beams, revealed that Rishad’s strong personal desire to return for another season played a significant role in securing the deal.
Beams said the franchise had placed great value on Rishad’s eagerness to return. She also highlighted the team’s plans to build a varied bowling attack featuring Australian star Adam Zampa alongside Rishad, with the combination expected to pose a significant challenge to opposition teams.
The Hurricanes official also praised Rishad’s ability to adapt quickly to Australia’s demanding conditions and establish himself as a key figure in the team. The franchise is optimistic that the two world-class leg-spinners will play a crucial role in the middle overs and help the Hurricanes secure victories in the 16th edition of the Big Bash League, which is scheduled to begin on December 12.
