The trophy for the three-match Bangladesh-Pakistan ODI series was unveiled today. After the ceremony, Bangladesh ODI captain Mehedi Hasan Miraz faced the media in a press conference.
With the 2027 ODI World Cup on the horizon, the captain wants to start preparations early. “Of course, we have a goal. Since the ODI World Cup is coming up, we need to start preparing now. We’ve already said that we have begun, and we are definitely planning accordingly. Previously, the ODI format has been one of our stronger formats, we’ve achieved good results, and we had a solid pattern in ODIs,” he said.
Miraz emphasized that the current players in the Bangladesh team must take responsibility, with special focus on batting. “Those who are in the team now need to take responsibility. The ODI format is a game where every situation has to be managed carefully, and it’s very important for each player to know how to control different situations. Batsmen have to take more responsibility, and I think we are planning in that way.”
The ODI captain did not shy away from self-criticism. “Everyone has expectations that I will win many matches. I know that doesn’t always happen. I always think about how to play well for the team,” Miraz said.
He also added, “This year, we have a lot of ODI matches. We will be able to plan properly. Every series, every match is important for us.”
