IPL Mini Auction to Be Held in Goa on December 16
The mini auction for the upcoming 2027 Indian Premier League (IPL) is set to take place on December 16. The one-day auction will be held in the coastal Indian state of Goa. On the same day, India and Sri Lanka are scheduled to face each other in the second ODI in Bengaluru.
Franchises have been instructed to finalise and submit their lists of retained players by November 15, exactly one month before the auction. Once the retention process is complete, the IPL authorities will share the full list of registered players with the franchises. Based on the teams’ respective shortlists, the final list of players and auction sets will then be determined and published in the week leading up to the auction.
Since the conclusion of the 2026 IPL season, two major moves have taken place in the trade window. According to IPL rules, the trade window opens one month after the end of a season and closes one week before the auction. Following the auction, the trade window reopens and remains open until one month before the start of the next season.
The official schedule for the 2027 season has not yet been announced by the IPL authorities. However, according to a three-year tentative schedule announced in 2024, the tournament was scheduled to run from March 14 to May 30. Following the Board of Control for Cricket in India’s (BCCI) Annual General Meeting (AGM) in September this year, board secretary Devajit Saikia indicated that the tournament could begin in the final week of March next year.
