After a disappointing start, Bangladesh staged an impressive recovery through the resilience of their middle-order batters. Riding on responsible innings from Towhid Hridoy, Litton Das and Mosaddek Hossain Saikat, the hosts posted a competitive 274 in the third and final ODI against Australia. To avoid a series whitewash, Australia now need 275 runs for victory.
Having won the toss at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur on Sunday, Bangladesh opted to bat first. However, the home side suffered an early setback as opener Soumya Sarkar was dismissed with the team score on just 2. Tanzid Hasan Tamim added to a 51-run second-wicket partnership before being dismissed, while the departure of captain Najmul Hossain Shanto left Bangladesh under pressure at 61 for 3.
From that point, Litton Das and Towhid Hridoy took charge of rebuilding the innings. The pair put together a crucial 92-run stand for the fourth wicket to provide Bangladesh with a solid platform.
Hridoy then combined with Mosaddek Hossain Saikat for a 93-run partnership for the fifth wicket. However, while attempting to accelerate the scoring rate, Hridoy was dismissed for 83 off 81 deliveries.
Towards the end of the innings, Sheikh Mehedi was dismissed for 3 runs from 9 balls. Litton later returned to the crease and completed his half-century, while Mosaddek also brought up the fifth ODI fifty of his career.
Bangladesh finished on 274 for 6 from their allotted 50 overs. Litton remained unbeaten on 58 from 78 balls, striking four fours and two sixes, while Mosaddek was unbeaten on 56 from 43 deliveries.
