India have made a change to their squad for the upcoming T20I series against Ireland and England. Fast bowler Mohammed Siraj has been rested by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), with Prasidh Krishna named as his replacement.
In a statement, the BCCI said that following discussions between the medical team and the team management, Siraj has been advised to take a break as part of his workload management programme. The precautionary decision has been taken ahead of a long international season.
Prasidh has played five T20Is for India so far, taking eight wickets in those matches. His most recent appearance in the format came against Australia in November 2023.
Prasidh is also part of India’s squad for the three-match ODI series against Afghanistan, which begins on June 13. Siraj, however, was not selected for that series. Both players recently featured in India’s Test victory over Afghanistan in New Chandigarh.
During the 2026 IPL season, Siraj played 17 matches for Gujarat Titans. Prasidh, meanwhile, featured in 12 games as the franchise reached the final.
After the T20I series against Ireland and England, India will play an ODI series in England. Tours of Zimbabwe, Sri Lanka and New Zealand are also scheduled later in the season.
India will face Ireland in two T20Is in Belfast on June 26 and 28 before taking on England in a five-match T20I series from July 1 to 11.
India’s T20I squad for the Ireland and England series:
Shreyas Iyer (captain), Abhishek Sharma, Sanju Samson, Ishan Kishan, Shivam Dube, Tilak Varma (vice-captain), Nitish Kumar Reddy, Axar Patel, Washington Sundar, Varun Chakravarthy, Ravi Bishnoi, Prasidh Krishna, Harshit Rana, Arshdeep Singh, Prince Yadav and Vaibhav Sooryavanshi.
