Bangladesh will take on Zimbabwe in the one-off Test at Harare Sports Club on Sunday. The match is scheduled to begin at 1:30 pm Bangladesh time. Ahead of the contest, Test captain Najmul Hossain Shanto expressed confidence in the team’s preparation, saying the players have adapted well to the conditions and are fully ready for the challenge.
According to Shanto, several members of the squad arrived in Harare a few days earlier, giving them enough time to adjust to the local conditions and pitch. He also believes those who joined later have adapted well through the last few days of training. Speaking about the team’s acclimatisation, Shanto said,
“A number of our players arrived here a few days earlier. Alhamdulillah, the adjustment has gone really well. I hope we are now fully prepared for the match. Some players joined later, but they have also adjusted quite well over the last few days of training. Hopefully, adapting to the conditions won’t be much of an issue during the match.”
The Bangladesh captain also expressed satisfaction with the team’s preparations. He said the squad made the best possible use of the facilities available and that the players are carrying confidence from their recent performances. Reflecting on the team’s readiness, Shanto said,
“We have had good preparation. We tried to make the best possible preparation with the facilities available here. Everyone is confident. We have been playing good cricket in the last few series, and I believe we can produce another good performance in this Test match.”
While winning the Test remains the primary objective, Shanto stressed that playing quality cricket is just as important. With several challenging overseas tours coming up after the Zimbabwe series, he views this match as an important opportunity to build momentum and confidence. Speaking about the team’s goals, Shanto said,
“We want to win the match and play good cricket. We have several away series coming up after this one, so it’s important how well we perform in this series. If our batters and bowlers can do well here, it will help us in those upcoming tours as well. Our focus will be on playing the best cricket we can.”
