North and South Zone Register Wins in BCL, Centuries for Akbar and Afif
North Zone and South Zone secured victories in two separate matches in the BCL today. North Zone defeated East Zone by 54 runs, while South Zone thrashed Central Zone by 7 wickets.
At Shaheed Chandu Stadium in Bogura, North Zone were sent in to bat after losing the toss and posted a massive total of 335 runs, losing all wickets in the allotted overs. Akbar Ali was the standout performer, smashing 111 runs off just 87 balls. Nazmul Hossain Shanto contributed 68, while Tanzid Hasan Tamim added 54 runs. For East Zone, Syed Khaled Ahmed picked up four wickets.
Chasing the big target, East Zone were bowled out for 281 with just two balls remaining. Mominul Haque’s 83 went in vain, while Nayeem Hasan scored 50 and Yasir Rabbi added 42. Rishad Ahmed claimed four wickets for North Zone.
In the other match of the day at the Rajshahi Divisional Stadium, Central Zone posted 264 for 7, riding on Nayeem Sheikh’s 69, Mahfuzul Robin’s 63, and Muhidul Ankon’s 67. For South Zone, Soumya Sarkar and Tanvir Islam took two wickets each.
In reply, South Zone lost Soumya Sarkar for a golden duck at the start. However, an unbeaten 100 off 86 balls from Afif Hossain guided them to victory with 27 balls to spare. Mohammad Mithun also made a valuable contribution of 72 runs.
