The Bangladesh U-19 Women’s Cricket Team secured a 21-run victory in the fourth T20 against Sri Lanka, leveling the series 2-2. Prior to this, Bangladesh had lost the first two matches of the series by 5 wickets and 65 runs, respectively. However, after a 4-wicket victory in the third match, Bangladesh managed to bring the series to an even draw with a win in the final match.
Bangladesh was put to bat first and lost their first wicket at a team score of 17. Fatema Choua was dismissed for 11 runs, while Sumaiya Akter Suborna was out for 13 runs. Opening batter Mosammat Iva was run out for 20 runs, leaving Bangladesh at 59 for 5.
At this stage, Afia Asima and Jannatul Mawa steadied the innings. Afia scored 21 runs off 23 balls, and Mawa contributed 24 runs from 27 balls. Toward the end of the innings, Sadia Akter played a quick 9-ball knock, adding 15 runs. Bangladesh was all out for 126 runs, just one ball before the end of their innings.
Chasing a target of 127 runs, Sri Lanka’s top order faltered early, losing two wickets for just 2 runs. The Sri Lankan captain, Manudi Nanayakkara, was dismissed for 25 runs. Sri Lanka continued to lose wickets at regular intervals, struggling to build partnerships.
On the other hand, Hiruni Hansika held one end firm, but with wickets falling around her, the pace of runs slowed considerably. Sri Lanka’s innings ended at 105 runs, with 8 wickets lost in their allotted 20 overs. Hiruni remained unbeaten, scoring a fiery 44 runs off 29 balls, including 5 fours and 2 sixes. Bangladesh's Jannatul Mawa was the standout bowler, taking 3 wickets to help seal the victory for her team.
With this win, Bangladesh U-19 Women’s Cricket Team managed to draw the series 2-2, ending the campaign on a high note.
