Womens T20 World Cup Schedule Released, Bangladesh Drawn in Tough Group
The International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced the full schedule for the upcoming Women’s T20 World Cup, set to be held in England in June-July. The announcement comes amid the excitement of the ongoing men’s T20 World Cup, giving women’s cricket fans a major update.
Bangladesh has been placed in Group A, alongside six-time champions Australia, the runners-up of the last two editions South Africa, regional rivals India and Pakistan, and World Cup debutants the Netherlands. Group B will feature defending champions New Zealand, inaugural winners England, 2016 champions West Indies with Sri Lanka, as well as Ireland and Scotland.
Bangladesh will have an encouraging start to their campaign as they open against the Netherlands on June 14 at the Ageas Bowl. On the same day and at the same venue, India and Pakistan will face off. This edition marks Bangladesh’s seventh consecutive participation in the Women’s T20 World Cup. They first competed as hosts, and in subsequent editions qualified through the qualifiers. However, the team has yet to advance beyond the group stage in the main tournament.
The semi-finals will be held at The Oval in London on June 30 and July 2, while the final will take place at Lord’s on July 5, where the champion team will be crowned.
