Mustafizur Gets a Team in The Hundred
Bangladesh left-arm pacer Mustafizur Rahman has secured a place in England’s franchise tournament The Hundred. He was picked by Birmingham Phoenix at his base price of £100,000 in the player auction. This move opens the door for the Bangladeshi bowler to feature in the competition for the first time.
Mustafizur’s name came up in the third and final phase of the auction held in London on Thursday. However, no other franchise placed a bid for him. With no competition from other teams, Birmingham Phoenix signed the 30-year-old pacer.
Another Bangladeshi cricketer, Rishad Hossain, was also included in the final auction list. The leg-spinner was placed in the £75,000 base price category, and his name appeared in the first phase of the auction. However, none of the eight franchises showed interest in picking him.
The sixth edition of The Hundred is scheduled to take place from July 21 to August 16 this year.
