Sri Lanka has achieved a significant victory against Bangladesh. With this win, they have made a big statement in the ICC Test Championship. Playing a Test on the soil of Sylhet for the first time, Sri Lanka defeated Bangladesh by a huge margin of 328 runs. Sri Lanka has won a Test in Bangladesh for the eighth time.
Sri Lanka remains unbeaten in Tests against Bangladesh. This record remains unbroken. They have dealt Bangladesh a big blow with this victory.
In the ICC Test Championship, Sri Lanka was at the bottom of the table. With this win, the team has risen to the sixth position alongside Bangladesh. Before this, Sri Lanka had no points in the championship. Although they won a Test against Afghanistan last February, they didn't earn any points in the Test Championship as Afghanistan is not a part of it.
Currently, Sri Lanka has 12 points, placing them alongside Bangladesh with the same points percentage (33.33). Pakistan has moved ahead to the fourth position with 36.66 points percentage. While the West Indies shares the same points percentage with Bangladesh and Sri Lanka at 33.33, they are ahead in points, placing fifth.
In the series against Bangladesh, Sri Lanka won the match even before the end of the fourth day, displaying dominance from the outset. They set a target of 511 runs for the hosts, while Bangladesh fell short, losing by 5 wickets at just 37 runs. Despite Mominul Haque's unbeaten 87 runs, they were all out for 182 runs.
