India U-19 Restricts Bangladesh to a Modest Total in the Final
Bangladesh posted 198 runs for the loss of all wickets after batting first in the U-19 Asia Cup final. The aggressive bowling attack of the Indian bowlers prevented any Tiger batter from playing a significant innings. Rizan Hossan top-scored for Bangladesh with 47 runs. To secure the trophy, India needs to chase 199 runs.
After losing the toss at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, Bangladesh U-19 opted to bat first. Opener Kalam Siddique Aleen was dismissed early, scoring just 1 run off 16 balls. Another opener, Zawad Abrar, departed for 20 runs, falling to Chetan Sharma.
A crucial fourth-wicket partnership of 62 runs off 81 balls was built by Shihab James and Rizan Hossan. Shihab scored a steady 40 runs off 67 balls, including 3 fours and 1 six, before being dismissed by Hardik Raj. Rizan, who scored 47 runs with 3 boundaries, was also sent back by Hardik Raj.
In the latter stages, Farid Hasan Faisal provided some resistance, scoring 39 runs off 49 balls. However, he too fell to Chetan Sharma. Iqbal Hossain was dismissed for just 1 run, and Bangladesh's innings ended at 198 runs in 49.1 overs.
For India, Hardik Raj and Chetan Sharma were the pick of the bowlers, claiming two wickets each.
India now has a target of 199 runs to claim the U-19 Asia Cup title.
