Hambantota Bangla Tigers Crowned Champions of Lanka T10 League
Hambantota Bangla Tigers, featuring Mosaddek Hossain and Sabbir Rahman, clinched the title of the Lanka T10 Super League by defeating Jaffna Titans in the final. The Bangla Tigers secured a 26-run victory to claim the championship. Chasing a target of 133 runs set by the Tigers, Jaffna Titans were restricted to 107 runs.
The final, held on Thursday at the Pallekele International Stadium, saw Hambantota Bangla Tigers batting first after losing the toss. Sabbir Rahman contributed 16 runs off 8 balls, hitting two sixes. Mohammad Shahzad and Shevon Daniel scored the highest for the team with 26 runs each, while captain Dasun Shanaka added 21 runs. The Tigers ended their innings at 133 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in the allotted 10 overs.
For Jaffna Titans, Triven Mathew was the standout bowler, taking 2 wickets for 18 runs.
In pursuit of a 134-run target, Jaffna Titans struggled early as Richard Gleeson’s double strike reduced them to 28 runs for 3 wickets. Despite Tom Abell’s valiant 54-run knock off 27 balls, the Titans fell short due to the lack of support from other batters, managing only 107 runs for the loss of 6 wickets.
Richard Gleeson claimed 3 wickets for the Bangla Tigers, while Dasun Shanaka took 2. Shanaka was named both Player of the Match and Player of the Tournament for his stellar performances.
