In a dominant display in Antigua, England achieved a convincing victory by dismissing Oman for 47 runs and winning the match in just 19 balls. This 8-wicket win, with 101 balls remaining, significantly bolstered England's position in the points table and improved their chances in the Super Eight race of the ICC T20 World Cup 2024. This destructive victory has temporarily freed England from net run rate worries.

After losing the toss and being put to bat first, Oman collapsed, losing all their wickets in just 13.2 overs. England's pace attack, led by Jofra Archer and Mark Wood, wreaked havoc on both the top and middle order of Oman.

Spinner Adil Rashid joined the wicket-taking spree later. While Archer and Wood each took 3 wickets, Rashid excelled with 4 wickets for only 11 runs.

Among Oman's 11 batters, only one managed to reach double figures. Shoaib Khan’s 11 runs off 23 balls were the highest score for Oman. In the power play's 6 overs, Oman could only score 25 runs while losing 4 wickets. Jofra Archer was exceptional from the start, not only taking 3 wickets but also delivering a maiden over.

Oman was all out for their record lowest score of 47. England wasted no time in their chase. With a flurry of boundaries and sixes, Jos Buttler’s team secured a commanding 8-wicket victory in just 3.1 overs.

This victory, achieved with the most balls (101) remaining in a T20I by any Test-playing nation, has made England’s path to the Super Eight easier by significantly boosting their net run rate.

With 6 points from 3 matches, Australia tops this group in the points table and will face Scotland in their next match. Scotland is in second place with 5 points from 3 matches and a net run rate of 2.164. England is in third place with 3 points from 3 matches and a net run rate of 3.081. Crushing Oman has greatly increased England's net run rate.
