US qualify for the Super Eights, Pakistan have been eliminated

In a remarkable debut World Cup performance, host USA has secured a spot in the Super Eight, while shattering Pakistan's dreams. USA's World Cup journey began with a commanding victory over Canada in their first match. They then showcased their strength by defeating Pakistan in a thrilling super over, and even posed a serious challenge to India. The rain-affected match against Ireland resulted in a no-result, allowing the USA to qualify for the Super Eight.

Rain in Lauderhill, Florida washed away Pakistan's hopes of making it to the Super Eight. Babar Azam's team, already on the brink of elimination after losing 2 out of their first 3 matches, was pinning its last hopes on the USA-Ireland match. A USA loss would have left a slim chance for Pakistan, and a draw would have sealed their fate. Due to the rain, the match was abandoned, giving the USA 1 point and consequently eliminating Pakistan.

The match at Lauderhill saw no toss as the rain persisted. Umpires Sharfuddoula Ibne Shahid, Rod Tucker, and Richard Kettleborough inspected the field several times. After a long wait, the match was officially called off at 11:30 PM Bangladesh time.

Earlier at the same venue, the match between Nepal and Sri Lanka was also abandoned due to rain, knocking Sri Lanka out of the T20 World Cup's Super Eight race. Pakistan faced a similar fate.

India was the first to secure a spot in the Super Eight from Group 'A', winning all 3 of their matches to accumulate 6 points. The USA has 5 points from 4 matches. On the other hand, Pakistan has 2 points from 3 matches. Even if Pakistan wins their last match, their total points will be 4, meaning they have no chance of surpassing the USA to qualify for the Super Eight.
