Tanzim Hasan Sakib Prepares with the Mindset of Playing
There has been extensive discussion about Tanzim Hasan Sakib’s inclusion in the ICC T20 World Cup squad. The selectors chose Tanzim over Mohammad Saifuddin for the final 15. If not for Shariful Islam's injury, this pacer might not have gotten a chance in the playing eleven.
However, Tanzim has seized his opportunity with both hands. He took 1 wicket for 24 runs against Sri Lanka, 3 wickets for 18 runs against South Africa, and 1 wicket for 23 runs against the Netherlands.
Sakib prepared for the match against Nepal with the mindset that he will be in the playing eleven. If given the chance, he aims to deliver his best performance once again, contributing in all three areas: batting, bowling, and fielding.
In a press conference, Tanzim Hasan Sakib said, “I don’t think about whether I will play or not. If I am given a chance to play, I will try to give my best. I have prepared myself with the mindset that I will be playing the match. It’s a different matter if I don’t play due to the team combination.”
“I am always ready to play a match. Whenever I get the opportunity, I try to give my 100% in all three areas. The team should get the best out of me. I want to give my full effort on the field for the team; that’s my job.”
Besides talking about himself, Tanzim Hasan Sakib also had to address the struggles of the batters due to their recent poor performances.
Regarding the top-order batters, Sakib said, “Those who have been prepared for the World Cup are the best choices. They are giving their 100%. Maybe one or two are not scoring runs right now. I believe they will return to form very soon. This is the team's belief, and we go into the field with this belief. We trust that someone will step up and perform well.”
