Tamim Iqbal Set for Comeback in NCL T20, to Join Mushfiqur and Mahmudullah
Former Bangladesh captain Tamim Iqbal is set to make his return to competitive cricket through the upcoming NCL T20 tournament, scheduled to begin on September 14. He will be joined by fellow senior cricketers Mushfiqur Rahim and Mahmudullah Riyad.
The trio — Tamim, Mushfiqur, and Mahmudullah — are expected to feature in this edition of the NCL T20, which will be played across three venues in the country: Sylhet, Bogura, and Rajshahi.
Tamim is preparing to return to the field nearly five months after suffering a heart attack during a Dhaka Premier League (DPL) match. Following the on-field health scare, he underwent treatment in a Dhaka hospital and later in Singapore. The left-handed opener, who last played international cricket in 2023, has since gradually recovered and is now gearing up for his comeback.
Akram Khan, chairman of the tournament committee, has confirmed Tamim’s participation in the upcoming tournament. The experienced batter has expressed interest in representing Chattogram in the event.
Meanwhile, Mushfiqur Rahim has also shown interest in participating, and Mahmudullah Riyad is likely to take part as well, making the tournament a highly anticipated one with the return of these national stalwarts.
