India scored 285 runs in 34.4 overs, dominating Bangladesh's bowlers, and took a lead of 52 runs in their first innings. In their second innings, Bangladesh lost openers Zakir Hasan and nightwatchman Hasan Mahmud early on. At the end of the fourth day of the Kanpur Test, Bangladesh was at 26 runs for the loss of 2 wickets, trailing by 26 runs.
A total of 85 overs were bowled today, with both teams losing 18 wickets while accumulating 437 runs. In the final session alone, 9 wickets fell.
In response to Bangladesh's 233 runs, India declared their first innings at 285 runs. The match took on a T20 feel as Indian batsmen unleashed a barrage of shots. However, thanks to the spin of Shakib Al Hasan and Mehedi Hasan Miraz, the hosts couldn't surpass 285 runs.
India scored 285 runs at a rapid rate of 8.22 runs per over, achieving records for the fastest team scores of 50, 100, 150, 200, and 250 in Test history. Shakib and Miraz each claimed 4 wickets, helping to dismiss 8 Indian batsmen.
In the evening, Bangladesh resumed batting but quickly lost opener Zakir Hasan, who was adjudged lbw off Ravichandran Ashwin for 10 runs, failing to overturn the decision with a review. Nightwatchman Hasan Mahmud came in at number three but was bowled by Ashwin while attempting an unnecessary shot, scoring just 4 runs.
Although Zakir and Hasan Mahmud fell quickly, fellow opener Sadman Islam steadied the innings and safely navigated the end of the day. He remained unbeaten on 7 runs, while Muminul Haque was yet to open his account.
