Sri Lanka seal series win over Bangladesh
Sri Lanka defeated Bangladesh by seven wickets in the third and final ODI in Rajshahi, riding on Hasini Perera’s 95 to clinch the series 2-1. After losing the opening match, the visitors made an impressive comeback to secure the series.
Chasing 214, Sri Lanka lost captain Chamari Athapaththu early, but Hasini Perera took control of the innings. Her match-winning knock of 95 came off 131 balls and featured 13 boundaries. She built a crucial 108-run partnership for the second wicket with Imesha Dulani.
Dulani scored 56 off 79 balls before being dismissed, after which Hasini added another 78 runs for the third wicket with Harshitha Samarawickrama. Just five runs short of a century, Hasini was eventually dismissed for 95 by Sobhana Mostary.
However, Harshitha ensured there were no further hiccups, remaining unbeaten on 44 and guiding Sri Lanka to victory alongside Hansima Karunaratne.
Earlier, Bangladesh lost three early wickets after opting to bat. A 65-run stand between Sobhana Mostary and captain Nigar Sultana helped stabilize the innings. Sobhana remained unbeaten on 74 off 80 balls, hitting eight fours.
Nigar Sultana contributed 40, while Ritu Moni added 20 from No. 8. However, lack of support from other batters meant Bangladesh could not post a big total.
For Sri Lanka, Kavisha Dilhari took three wickets, while Nimasha Meepage claimed two. Malki Madara and Chamari Athapaththu picked up one wicket each.
With the ODI series concluded, both teams will now face off in the T20I series, starting on April 28 in Sylhet.
