At Seddon Park in Hamilton, New Zealand bounced back in dominant fashion, defeating South Africa by 68 runs in a one-sided contest. With this victory, the five-match T20I series is now level at 1-1.

Asked to bat first, New Zealand did not have the most fluent start. However, Devon Conway gradually steadied the innings. He played a responsible knock of 60 off 49 balls, hitting 5 fours and 2 sixes, anchoring one end and building the foundation for the team.

In the middle overs, Mitchell Santner contributed 20 runs while Cole McConchie added 18 to keep the innings moving. Toward the end, Josh Clarkson’s explosive 26 off just 9 balls provided the late surge, helping New Zealand post a competitive total of 175 for 6 in their 20 overs.

In reply, South Africa came under pressure right from the start. They kept losing wickets at regular intervals and failed to build any meaningful partnerships. The only bright spot was George Linde, who smashed 33 runs off just 12 balls. Apart from Rubin Hermann’s 19, none of the batters could make an impact, as the Proteas were bowled out for 107 in 15.3 overs.

New Zealand’s bowlers were outstanding throughout. Lockie Ferguson and Ben Sears picked up three wickets each, putting the match firmly in the hosts’ control. The rest of the bowling unit maintained consistent pressure, dismantling South Africa’s batting lineup.

For his crucial innings that laid the foundation for the win, Devon Conway was named Player of the Match.
