Dream Debut for Rishad Hossain in PSL as Lahore Qalandars Crush Quetta Gladiators
Bangladesh leg-spinner Rishad Hossain made a sensational debut in the Pakistan Super League (PSL), picking up three crucial wickets to lead Lahore Qalandars to a commanding 79-run victory over Quetta Gladiators.
After losing their opening match against Islamabad United, Lahore bounced back in style in their second outing. Rishad, who did not feature in the first match, was included in the playing XI and made an immediate impact at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium.
He claimed his maiden PSL wicket by clean bowling South African batter Rilee Rossouw. In his final over — the 13th of the innings — Rishad struck twice, conceding just six runs. He dismissed veteran pacer Mohammad Amir and followed it up with the wicket of Abrar Ahmed.
Rishad finished with impressive figures of 3 for 31 in his full quota of 4 overs, making him the standout bowler for Lahore Qalandars in the match.
Quetta, chasing a daunting target, collapsed for 140 before completing their 20 overs. Lahore Qalandars, who were put in to bat after losing the toss, posted a mammoth total of 219 for 6. Opener Fakhar Zaman led the charge with a quickfire 67 off 39 balls, earning him the Player of the Match award.
Rishad also had a brief appearance with the bat, remaining unbeaten on 1 run from a single delivery.
This victory marked Lahore's first win of the season and introduced a promising new talent to the PSL stage in the form of Bangladesh’s rising leg-spinner.
