Bangladesh Ranked Ninth in Updated ICC T20I Rankings for 2025
The International Cricket Council (ICC) on Monday released the updated ICC Men’s T20I rankings for 2025. According to the latest update, Bangladesh sits at ninth position with 8,538 points from 38 matches, giving them a rating of 225.
India tops the rankings with a rating of 271, followed by Australia (262) and England (254) in second and third places, respectively. Among the other South Asian teams, Sri Lanka ranks seventh with a rating of 235, while Pakistan is just ahead of Bangladesh in eighth place with 228 rating points.
Afghanistan (223) and Ireland (202) trail Bangladesh in tenth and eleventh positions, respectively. While Bangladesh’s position remains relatively stable, the point gap with neighboring teams is narrow, indicating stiff competition.
Despite being a regular participant in the T20 format, Bangladesh has struggled to achieve major success, often falling short due to inconsistencies in match strategy, strike rate, and finishing capabilities. The team's batting lineup, in particular, has shown irregular performances that have hindered overall progress.
Recently, Liton Kumar Das was appointed as the new T20I captain for Bangladesh. Under his leadership, the team is set to play upcoming series against the United Arab Emirates and Pakistan.
