Bangladesh beat Pakistan by 8 wickets in a one-sided match

Bangladesh comfortably defeated Pakistan by 8 wickets in the first ODI held at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Dhaka. Pakistan’s batting lineup failed to withstand the hosts’ pace attack and were bowled out for just 114 runs. In reply, a blistering knock from Tanzid Hasan Tamim helped Bangladesh seal the victory in only 15.1 overs.

 

After winning the toss, Bangladesh chose to bowl first. From the beginning, the Bangladeshi bowlers kept the Pakistani batters under pressure. The visitors kept losing wickets at regular intervals. Opener Sahibzada Farhan scored 27 runs, but the rest of the batters failed to build significant innings. Towards the end, Faheem Ashraf tried to put up some resistance with 37 runs. However, Bangladesh pacer Nahid Rana delivered an outstanding spell, claiming 5 wickets, while Taskin Ahmed picked up 2 wickets. As a result, Pakistan were bowled out for 114 runs in 30.4 overs.

 

Chasing a small target, Bangladesh opener Tanzid Hasan Tamim started aggressively from the outset. He played a brilliant innings of 67 runs off just 42 balls, hitting 8 fours and 3 sixes. He was well supported by captain Najmul Hossain Shanto, who scored 27 runs. Later, Litton Das came to the crease and Bangladesh completed the chase in just 15.1 overs.

 

With this victory, Bangladesh took a 1–0 lead in the three-match ODI series.
